Curriculum
So much more than preschool
We pride ourselves on being an early childhood education center. That means we incoporate age-appropriate learning opportunities into every part of our day. Our lead teachers meet accreditation standards set by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. To ensure the best learning environment for all our students, we do not offer part-time or part-day preschool or day care.
School Readiness
We're proud to say 100% of our preschoolers test ready for kindergarten! That's because we know school readiness begins at birth. Classroom teachers organize curriculum to nurture each child’s development. Activities promote social and emotional development, language and literacy development, creativity and the arts, cognitive development, and physical and motor skills. Teachers regularly assess all children to ensure age appropriate development and school readiness using national, research-based assessment tools. Progress is shared with families.

Anti-bias Curriculum
Our curriculum incorporates anti-bias values and conflict resolution skills that equip children for success. Beginning with their own experiences, children gradually understand, accept, and celebrate the diversity of people through play on a daily basis. The YWCA promotes understanding within the classroom through dramatic play, stories, puppets and group discussions.
Community Partnerships
Our program is enhanced because of the following community partnerships:
- Health Dimensions Rehabilitation (speech, occupational and physical therapy services for children)
- Minneapolis Public Schools
- MacPhail Center for Music
- Minnesota Literacy Council - Minnesota Reading Corps
- Hennepin County Master Gardeners
